We are pleased to bring you the latest edition of The Analyst. I know it has been several months, (twenty to be exact, but who's counting) since we last published our quarterly newsletter, but we are going to make a concerted effort this time to meet our deadlines. Lorna Sharkey, who you will be reading about in this edition, is taking over the coordination, writing and printing of The Analyst. We can now be assured that it will go out on time. The idea behind the newsletter is to keep you, the members of the DIRT Club®, informed of new ideas, events and techniques in the coatings industry. We would welcome any ideas, input or content that you are willing to share with your fellow members. If you send us an article that we publish, we will send you one of our new Microview shirts. Please give Lorna a call, or e-mail her with your ideas or suggestions. We hope you enjoy this latest and much overdue edition of The Analyst. |

Microview Introduces A New Web Site |
| This month,Microview released a new web site. "We had not updated our site in a little while, and frankly, it needed a little facelift", said Don Blacklock, Microview's General Manager. The site includes updated product service information, and is the first phase of a total redesign program. Over the next few months, additional functionality will be added for its DIRT Club® members including technical support information, standard operating procedures and paint industry related information. "We want our site to be the main information resource for the paint and coatings industry", said Microview's President, Martin Sharkey. |

"The CIMS (Coatings Inspection & Measurement System), is quickly becoming the standard of the EPDM manufacturers market for the measurement of film builds. This is a really tough application with tight tolerances that requires excellent sample preparation", says Martin Sharkey, developer of the CIMS System.
Samples are prepared using a custom designed cutter that produces a sample that is virtually flat without destroying or crushing the coating. This is imperative for accurate measurements. Surfaces can also be inspected for coating delamination voids and other surface problems. Why not join companies such as Cooper Rubber & Tire, Standard Products and BTR and use the CIMS for your quality inspection? |
